Medicinal use of (senai kilangu)Elephant Yam: The root is carminative, restorative, stomachic and tonic. It is dried and used in the treatment of piles and dysentery. The fresh root acts as an acid stimulant and expectorant, it is much used in India in the treatment of acute rheumatism.
Ingredients Elephant Yam(senai kilangu) cut in small pieces or Grated – 2 Cups Roasted gram – ¼ Cup Green chilies – 3 Ginger – ½ inch Garlic – little Big Onion – half of one chopped Cloves – 3 Cinnamon – ½ inch Coconut – 2 spoon Fennel seed – 1 tsp Turmeric powder – ½ tsp Salt to taste Oil to deep fry
Method *Grind all the ingredients except elephant yam (senai kilangu) to make a paste and mix with the grated yam. *Note that if your yam is little watery after grating,remove the water *mix the grated yam(senai kilangu)to the paste and make it as small rounds and flat them each. *fry each deep in oil *serve it hot
